LAS VEGAS -- The father of a woman killed outside a Las Vegas Jack In The Box restaurant told FOX5 a jealous ex-boyfriend had been stalking her for some time.
Charles Lavoll arrived at the restaurant Thursday morning after hearing his daughter, Brittney, had been shot in the head upon arriving at work just before 6 a.m.
His 23-year-old daughter had split with her boyfriend, Lavoll said, although they had two young boys.
"Hes nothing and he took my daughter's life," he said. "She’s somebody and he’s a bum."
The couple split three years ago, Lavoll said.
Brittney Lavoll was born and raised in Las Vegas and graduated from Desert Pines High School, her father said.
The restaurant, on Lake Mead Boulevard near Buffalo Drive, remained closed as detectives began collecting evidence from Lavoll’s car in the parking lot.
Earlier in the morning, crime scene tape covered the area and police cars could be seen along the entire block from Buffalo Drive to Tenaya Way. The sound of news helicopters woke families in surrounding neighborhoods and puzzled students walked cautiously through the area to nearby Cimarron Memorial High School.
Police said the gunman ran from the scene after the shooting, but the school was not locked down because it was not open at the time.
A FOX5 source said it’s unknown whether the shooting was the result of a robbery or domestic violence.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
