ALBANY, GA (WALB) –
A Cuthbert man is in jail charged with beating his ex-girlfriend to death at an Albany Motel.
56-year old Monty Caren Simpson is charged killing 51 year old Beverly Jean Williams.
Her body was found at the Dollar Inn on North Slappey just after 7:30 last night.
Investigators say she died of blunt force trauma to her head.
Williams had a restraining order to keep Simpson away from her.
Albany Police Detective Terrence Whitlock said "Miss Williams and Simpson have had a history of domestic violence. Several months ago he was arrested for assault, and she was the victim."
Investigators say Simpson called 9-1-1 himself to ask for emergency responders at the motel room. He is being held in the Dougherty County Jail. Williams' body has been sent to Macon for autopsy.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
