OLYMPIA, Wash. —
A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and then shooting himself in the face was in court in Olympia in a wheelchair and wearing an eye patch.
The 54-year-old Roy Franco was supposed to be arraigned Monday on a first-degree murder charge but his lawyer asked for more time to determine whether Franco is competent to stand trial.
He's accused of shooting 43-year-old Kay Langford last September at her workplace, Lattin's Country Cider Mill.
Franco was arrested Friday at a nursing center and is now held at the Thurston County Jail with bail set at $2 million.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
