CHAMBERSBURG, PENNSLYVANIA -- A St. Thomas man charged in the shooting death of his wife last month told police he mistook her for an intruder.
30-year-old Christopher Jones turned himself in Thursday, March 18th, on charges of both voluntary and involuntary manslaughter.
Jones' 27-year-old wife Kristin Runyon died of a gunshot wound to the chest February 25th.
Jones told investigators he awoke to strange noises in the couple's home early that morning and fired the fatal shot when someone ran toward him.
He said he assumed his wife was still in bed because she had been asleep earlier when he hit the snooze button on their alarm clock.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
