A 24-year-old San Bernardino woman committed suicide after firing several rounds at an ex-boyfriend who had obtained a restraining order against her, investigators said today.
Erica Ware went to her ex's Rancho Cucamonga home about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and was waiting for him in the driveway when 31-year-old Edward Brown got home from work, sheriff's officials said.
She began shooting as Brown scrambled out the vehicle's passenger door and ran west on Glenaire Court. He escaped unharmed and told detectives that Ware fled in her car.
Believing that Ware was hiding at the Diamond Inn Motel in Inglewood, detectives went there and found Ware dead of a self-inflicted gunshot.
The couple broke up about a year ago and Brown obtained a restraining order against Ware in January after telling a judge that she had threatened to kill him.
Inglewood police are handling the death investigation.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
