Deville, LA: Identity of Deville couple found dead released

Rapides Parish sheriff’s officials have identified the Deville couple found dead at their home Wednesday afternoon as Bobby Smith and Alvy Smith.

Just before noon Wednesday, March 18, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of two possible deaths at the 125 Paul Road home by a family member who had discovered the bodies.

When deputies arrived, they found the bodies of 70-year-old Bobby Smith and 65-year-old Alvy Smith. Both had been shot.

Authorities have said they aren’t looking for any suspects at the time, but said they can’t release anymore about the means of death as the case is still under investigation. Findings of the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office will be critical, officials said.

Both bodies were removed by the coroner’s office, and an autopsy has been ordered by Coroner Dr. Frances Brian.

This case is still under investigation, and anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (318) 641-6000 or Crime Stoppers at (318) 443-7867.

Funeral services for both Bobby Smith and Alvy Smith will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Deville with the Rev. John O’Brien officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.

Friends may call at Hixson Bros. in Pineville on Friday from 4 p.m. Friday until shortly before a rosary service at 7 p.m.
