A disturbing discovery after a grandfather finds his son and granddaughter dead inside the garage of their home in what's being called a murder-suicide.

It happened on Torrey Pines Trail in the Boone Trace subdivision in Madison County, near the Bull Golf course. Authorities say the father and daughter were found just before 1:00 Sunday afternoon.

Those that knew 43-year old Richard Moore are trying to figure out how he could do what authorities are saying. He and his 13-year old daughter, Kelsey, were found dead in their garage in what's being called an apparent murder-suicide.

The coroner says their estimated time of death, however, was about 12 hours before that, from what appears to be carbon monoxide poisoning.

Neighbors say Moore owned his own construction company and built many of the homes in that very subdivision.

Investigators say the bodies of the father and daughter were found by a neighbor and Richard Moore's father in the home's garage after the car was left running. Officials say Moore had failed to pick up his other children in Nicholasville Sunday morning, causing the initial concern.

Neighbors tell 27 NEWSFIRST they are shocked by what has happened and say that Rick Moore was a good man.

The bodies have been sent to Frankfort for autopsies.
