A 38-year-old Niagara County man was stabbed to death early this morning, and Niagara County sheriff's deputies have arrested his girlfriend on a murder charge, sheriff's officials reported.
Deputies responded to a 1:15 a.m. call from the girlfriend about a stabbing at 8464 Ridge Road, Town of Hartland.
Emergency workers from Tri Town Ambulance and the Hartland Fire Department also responded and worked on Randy R. Whitney at the scene. He was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators from the sheriff's department charged the girlfriend, Gwendolyn Garcia, 31, of the same address, with second-degree murder and possession of a weapon. She was arraigned in Hartland Town Court and kept in custody with no bail.
Whitney was stabbed in the chest, but investigators wouldn't say how many times or whether they know what sparked the fatal attack.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
