An Arlington Heights man who admitted to killing his girlfriend's kitten was sentenced today to 30 months probation and 240 hours of community service.
Kevin Colabuono, 25, of the 2100 block of Goebbert Road, pleaded guilty in Rolling Meadows branch court to aggravated cruelty to an animal.
Colabuono was arrested in August after police found the 4-month-old kitten dead in an outside garbage bin, said assistant state's attorney Kristin Piper.
Colabuono admitted he killed the cat, Riley, by throwing it on the floor after it urinated on the carpet in the residence, Piper said. Colabuono placed the cat in the bin and didn't tell his girlfriend until several days later, Piper said.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
