LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Calcasieu Parish jurors have found 39-year-old Kevin Charles Gasaway guilty of second-degree murder.
The 12-member jury discussed the case for about 90 minutes Monday before returning its verdict. Gasaway faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. That sentence will be imposed by Judge David Ritchie on Jan. 8.
The American Press reports Gasaway was accused of shooting to death his ex-wife, 28-year-old Courtnee Lewis Gasaway, on Dec. 14, 2004, eight days after the defendant was served with a final divorce judgment.
