Charges were filed this afternoon against a man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend early this morning at her 132 Nottingham St. apartment in Plymouth.

Rosemarie Cave, 35, died inside the home after being stabbed around 2:30 a.m., authorities said.

Robert George Zola, 44, was taken into custody in Kingston and is being held currently at the state police barracks in Wyoming, pending an arraignment on homicide charges.

According to a search warrant affidavit filed in the case:

Zola, of Kingston, was waiting inside Cave’s house for her to return home and confronted her as she was about to walk in the door. Cave was returning to the home with Jeffrey Walter Roberts.

"Oh, my God, it’s my boyfriend," Cave said, as the suspect pulled her inside the home.

Roberts told police he witnessed the man striking her repeatedly in the torso and believed a knife was in the man’s hand. The man then chased after Roberts, saying, "Come on, let’s go. Let’s take it out here. Want to fight?"

Roberts was able to call 911, then returned to the home, to find Cave laying on the kitchen floor, not moving. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the Luzerne County Coroner’s office removed Cave’s body around 11:30 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Cave’s mother, Rosemarie Sult, arrived at the scene Monday morning and called her daughter "the most beautiful girl in the world."

"I can’t believe she had to die this way," Sult said. "She was my baby girl. My baby girl is gone. It’s heartbreaking. My heart and soul is empty."

I hope he lives the rest of his life getting raped in jail for taking the life of one of the most beautiful people anyone would ever meet! I hope that our horrible justice system can make things right!
