Thomas Vanacore, 73, and Joan Vanacore, 70, were found dead in their North Haven home Monday in what police say was a murder-suicide.
A visiting nurse, who was caring for the couple, found their bodies after returning from an errand, police said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner did determine that both died of a single separate gunshot wound to the head.
Joan Vanacore's death was ruled a homicide and Thomas Vanacore's death was ruled a suicide, said North Haven Police Detective Captain James Merrithew.
A .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver was used in the killings, said Captain Merrithew
The Vanacores had been both suffering from serious illness, said police.
Their youngest of six children, Edward Vanacore, was 29-years-old when he died during the World Trade Center attacks.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
