NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Nashville police say a man fatally shot his estranged wife's boyfriend before turning the gun on himself.
Nashville police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford says 38-year-old Xavier Kidd used a .25 caliber semiautomatic handgun to kill 29-year-old Jarmille Toran in front of two children, ages 8 and 11, who were not injured. Kidd's estranged wife, 31-year-old Renee Kidd, was shot in the hand as she tried to subdue Xavier Kidd.
Mumford said Xavier Kidd shot himself in the head as officers tried to disarm him. Xavier Kidd died from a gunshot wound to the head. Toran died at the scene after being shot in the side and in the upper torso.
Renee Kidd was treated for her gunshot wound and released.
Xavier Kidd had been ordered to stay away from his estranged wife's home and was free on $31,000 bond at the time of the shootings.
