BOWLING GREEN — A Fostoria man was convicted Friday of strangling his girlfriend and leaving her body in a rural area of Wood County's Perry Township.
After two and a half hours of deliberation, a jury found Randy Corbin, 49, guilty of murder for the October, 2007 death of Karen Coldwell, 51, of North Baltimore. He also was convicted of tampering with evidence. Shortly after the verdict, he was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison by Judge Reeve Kelsey.
Ms. Coldwell was last seen alive Oct. 15. Her body was found four days later after Corbin's brother, Frank Corbin, told investigators Corbin told him he had strangled Ms. Coldwell during an argument and left her body on Hall Road where a Corbin family member once lived.
Corbin did not take the stand during his four-day trial in Wood County Common Pleas Court
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
