One man is dead and another was being questioned by police Friday night after a shooting involving a woman's ex-husband and current boyfriend.
Police haven't released the name of the dead man because they haven't notified his family. They are also withholding the name of the man they believe pulled the trigger because he has not been charged with a crime.
The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on Breckfield Court, just off Shopton Road West in southwest Charlotte. Officers got a call from the woman who owned the home, who said her ex-husband came to the house and threatened her.
When officers got to the house, they found the ex-husband lying outside the house, dead from a gunshot wound.
Witnesses told police that the ex-husband came to the house and found his ex-wife there with her current boyfriend. The men began fighting and the ex-husband was shot.
Police said the woman and the boyfriend are cooperating with police and went to police headquarters to give detailed statements.
Officers encourage anyone with information to call 704-432-TIPS to speak to a a homicide detective. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Cleve R. Wootson Jr.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
