COEUR D'ALENE -- A body was found near Hayden Lake Wednesday morning in the area where Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputies have been searching for murder suspect Chad Moore since Tuesday night.
Kootenai County Sheriff Rocky Watson said that he could not confirm that the body was Moore until the next of kin was notified. However the sister of 28-year-old Ryan W. Taylor, who authorities say was shot and killed by Moore, has said that it was Moore’s body that was found.
Elizabeth Taylor, Ryan’s sister, was at Hayden Lake Wednesday morning and said that Moore’s family told her he shot himself Tuesday night. Sheriff Watson confirmed that a gun was found near the body.

Detectives in Kootenai County found Chad Moore’s 1994 Toyota pickup truck Tuesday night about a half mile north of Hayden Lake. Since then deputies have been searching the area and discovered a body just after 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The sheriff’s department says that Moore, 35, shot and killed Ryan Taylor Tuesday afternoon at the Lakeview Village Apartments located at 10102 North Government Way in Hayden. The first caller to 911 around 3 p.m. said she heard two gunshots and looked out the window to see Taylor lying on the sidewalk in front of one of the buildings.
The caller said he had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. After emergency crews arrived at the apartment building she saw them performing CPR on Taylor before they were taken away in an ambulance to Kootenai Medical Center. Another eyewitness, Ward Fry, said he was working a short ways away with his dad when the shooting happened.
“Just standing here BS'ing and all the sudden we heard sounded like four gun shots pop-pop-pop-pop that quick and then done and we're looking around and all the sudden I saw a couple girls running around on phones just frantic," Fry said.
Fry said he heard sirens almost immediately after the gunshots. As soon as firefighters arrived he and his dad walked down the street to see if there was anything they could do.
"Walked down to the corner and we could see them pumping on the guy's chest trying to do CPR and stuff but they did it long enough you could tell it wasn't happening," Fry said.
Other eyewitnesses at the apartments reported seeing a truck speeding away from the complex right after the shots were fired and authorities were able to verify the truck was a 1994 blue Toyota pickup truck with license plate number K433586. Based on information they have received the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department identified Chad Lee Moore as the shooting suspect.
Three hours after the shootings, several Kootenai County Sheriff SUVs with members of SWAT were seen heading north along Government Way. A short while later deputies were seen on Hayden Creek Road near Triangle 7 where a suspicious pickup was located in the woods near that area. The Idaho State Police blocked off Hayden Creek Road while the Spokane County Sheriff's helicopter "Air 1", which has both thermal imaging sensors and a spotlight, was dispatched across the state line to assist Kootenai County in the manhunt.
That manhunt, by all appearances, came to an end when deputies found a body with a gun next to it near Hayden Lake almost 17 hours after Taylor was shot.
