WERNERSVILLE, Pa. (AP) ― An eastern Pennsylvania trucking company owner is being held without bail in the murder of his wife.
Fifty-one-year-old William Landis Jr. is charged with first- and third-murder in the Oct. 28 shooting. Authorities say Sharon Landis suffered gun shot wounds to her head and chest.
Police say William Landis' 911 call reporting his wife's death led to an eight-hour standoff with officers. Authorities say he threatened suicide and fired on police.
Police say William Landis told them he shot his wife accidentally during a struggle. Defense attorney James Polyak says his client did not intend to kill his wife and did not fire on police.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
