WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - A Madison County woman was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter, assault and weapon possession in the December 2007 death of her live-in boyfriend.
It was the second trial for Brenda Lee Hartman of Sullivan. A state appeals court overturned her 2008 conviction earlier this year. The appeal was based on the judge's refusal to postpone the first trial so the defense could secure a psychiatric expert witness.
A jury of 7 men and five women delivered an identical verdict Friday in Hartman's trial for fatally stabbing Thomas Winn in the back.
Madison County Judge Dennis McDermott scheduled sentencing for Jan. 5.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
