Hamden, Conn. (WTNH) - A woman was killed by her boyfriend inside their Hamden apartment.
Around 2:35am, police received a report of a serious assault at 37 Williamson Road.
Officers had to force their way through the front door, but once inside, they found Frances Piscitelli, 41, lying motionless in bed. Lying next to her was her 41 year-old boyfriend, David Borelli in an apparent murder-suicide attempt.
This is the fourth deadly domestic violence case in less than 3 weeks. Read more here.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Piscitelli was stabbed in the stomach and that her throat was slit. She was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. She was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Her body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington for an autopsy.
Neighbors say Piscitelli has two children.
Borelli was transported to the Hospital of Saint Raphael with lacerations to his wrists.
He has been arrested and charged with murder.
Borelli is being detained at police headquarters on a $1,000,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on October 11.
The incident is under investigation as a domestic violence case.
This is the second murder that has occurred in Hamden in 2011.
