EDWARDSVILLE - A man living in an upscale subdivision apparently killed his wife and himself at his home last Friday.
Khalil M. Mikhayel, 53, of 116 Fox Hill Court near Edwardsville, was found dead Monday of self-inflicted cut wounds, an autopsy performed Tuesday indicated, authorities said.
His wife, Marwa A. Huneidi, 48, of the same address, was found dead of blunt force trauma to the head and stab wounds, an autopsy showed.
Their bodies were found Monday at the home after what appeared to have been a domestic confrontation.
Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff's Department responded about 4:15 p.m. Monday to the home, which is adjacent to the Fox Creek Golf Club.
It was reported to the Sheriff's Department that a man and woman who lived at the residence had not been responding to telephone calls. Family members went to the residence, entered and immediately called the Sheriff's Department.
Detectives from the Sheriff's Department were conducting the death investigation.
Investigators from the Madison County Coroner's Office and crime scene investigators from the Illinois State Police also responded to the scene.
Authorities said the man died of multiple cutting wounds consistent with his inflicting the wounds on himself.
The investigation continues, but there are no other suspects at this time.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
