HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville police and other emergency personnel responded to the scene of a shooting involving two men at Huntington Apartments on Meadowbrook Drive Wednesday afternoon.
Huntsville Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Mark Roberts said they responded to a murder/suicide call that went out just after 1:00 p.m.
One of the victim's family members said the shooting was likely over a relationship one of the men was having with a woman who lived here.
Its' believed her estranged husband found out, shot the man then turned the gun on himself.
"Several people heard shots earlier in the day and from what I understand someone acquainted with one of the victims came to check on them and called it in as a shooting. We are speculating it happened earlier than when we were originally called," said Sgt. Micky Allen.
A family member identified the victim as 30-year-old Ben Lowhorne.
Lowhorne is a graduate of Westminster Academy and Athens State University. He has two children, ages nine and seven.
Lowhorne was a member of the Coast Guard and owned an accounting business on Leeman Ferry Road.
Lowhorne is the son of WAAY 31 News Director Keith Lowhorne.
His family says Lowhorne was dating a woman he thought was divorced.
The name of the second victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
