Murder-suicide. He killed his wife, then himself. That's what the State Medical Examiner says happened in Hollis Wednesday.
Thursday's examinations of the bodies of 44-year-old Freda Lagarde and 50-year-old Mike Lagarde revealed that she died from multiple gunshot wounds and he died from a self-inflicted shot to the head.
The Lagardes' bodies were discovered in or around a back bedroom in their home on Brook Drive by their adult daughter. She called 911 around one Wednesday afternoon.
Detectives say it appears Lagarde shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself about 10:30 Tuesday night.
Detectives have interviewed relatives, neighbors and friends, but have found no motive yet as to what sparked the violence.
State Police say Freda Lagarde's death was the eighth domestic violence murder in Maine this year.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
