A State Trooper and a Border Patrol agent were justified when they shot and killed a man in Cyr Plantation back in April. That's according to a report issued Tuesday by the Maine Attorney General's Office.
The report says the officers shot 55-year old Neil Begin once, when Begin leveled a rifle at them. After Begin got up and was still wielding the rifle, officers shot again. Begin died at a Bangor hospital.
Officers originally went to Begin's home to investigate a domestic disturbance. Begin allegedly pointed a loaded rifle at his wife, his adult son, and the son's girlfriend the night before. Begin's blood alcohol content was 0.248 percent, which is more than three times the limit for driving.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
