CHARLESTON, SC (WSCS) – A judge denied bond Sunday for 22-year-old Kevin Herriott who is accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend's mother.
The victim's family said he should get the death penalty.
The sister and daughter of 50-year-old Joyce Dupree testified before the judge Sunday morning.
Bryan Antonio Williams, another victim said, "Herriott was on a mission to kill."
Charleston Police said Herriott got into a dispute with his girlfriend at around 2:30 Saturday morning at a home on Norman Street downtown.
Investigators say Herriott surrendered at police headquarters Saturday afternoon with the support of a family member and his pastor.
Police say Herriott shot his girlfriend's mother Dupree and Williams during that dispute.
Dupree died Saturday at the Medical University of South Carolina
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
