GRENTA, La. (AP) A 44-year-old Mississippi man has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend in a suburban New Orleans motel three years ago.
Terry Robinson had been accused of slashing and strangling 32-year-old Lesley Justice. Both were from Stakville.
Robinson pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He had been charged with second-degree murder, which carries an automatic life sentence without parole.
Robinson took a plea deal Wednesday just before a jury was to hear opening arguments.
Investigators say Justice was killed in an apparent domestic dispute.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
