Plattsburgh, New York - May 2, 2010
A New York woman charged with the murder of her ex-boyfriend claims he was the victim of an accident, not any criminal activity.
34-year-old Kathryn Shoemaker, of Chateaugay, is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly strangling Ravin Miller in his Churubusco home back in August.
According to newly released court papers, Shoemaker told investigators Miller died during rough sex.
Prosecutors say she owed Miller 35,000 and he was about to go to police to report the theft.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
