HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Investigators say an attempted murder-suicide led to a SWAT standoff in the upscale Southampton neighborhood, and it ended with a woman dead, allegedly shot by her husband.
Officers say a holdup alarm brought them out to the home on Tangley and Wilton near Rice University Saturday evening. Houston police told us a man shot and killed his wife and barricaded himself in the home. A SWAT team came out and tried to get the man to surrender.
After several hours, the man shot himself. He survived, but officers would not say how seriously he was injured. At this point, the identities of the couple are not being released.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
