A man and his wife were found dead Tuesday afternoon in their Beverly Hills home in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.
The bodies were found by officers about 1:30 p.m. in the 400 block of South Swall Drive, the Beverly Hills Police Department said. The officers were responding to a "welfare check" in the neighborhood near Olympic Boulevard.
"All indications are showing that this couple were the victims of a murder-suicide," Sgt. Renato Moreno said. "There is no threat to the community."
Detectives were still at the home Tuesday evening and had not determined what sparked the violence, police said. The names of the victims have yet to be released pending notification of relatives.
Since January 2007, at least two homicides have been reported in Beverly Hills, according to The Times' Homicide Report database.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
