Enid Police Department has released the name of a women who died at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center early Tuesday morning after receiving an injury to her head.
Sgt. Dustin Albright said the body of 29-year-old Rolitha Paul has been sent to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City for examination.
Police received a call Tuesday from a nurse at St. Mary’s reporting a woman who was brought to the emergency room by a man.
Officers learned there had been a domestic dispute between Paul and a man Monday night sometime around midnight at their residence, 1401 E. Oklahoma.
Detectives were told the man tried to leave in his vehicle and Paul attempted to get into the moving vehicle, Albright said. Paul reportedly fell and struck her head.
Paul got up and appeared to be fine at that time and she and the man both went to sleep, the man told officers. The man woke up Tuesday morning and noticed the woman was unresponsive. He then took Paul to the hospital, where she later was pronounced dead.
Police are working with Garfield County District Attorney’s Office and charges may be pending, Albright said.
Police have not released the man’s name because an arrest has not been made.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
