NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro will pay $150,000 to the parents of a young mother murdered by her estranged boyfriend.
The parents of Shellie Hernandez filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the city in 2009 claiming their daughter's death could have been prevented.
Michael Williams shot and killed Hernandez on December 2, 2008, just one day after he got out of jail for violating a restraining order she filed against him.
Hernandez's parents claimed Williams was released because his probation officer failed to say he had violated his parole on another domestic violence conviction.
Williams was convicted of Hernandez's murder in October 2010.
