The murder trial will begin Monday for the Horry County man police say beat his wife to death in a Socastee convenience store.
Asghar Eliaderani, 55, is charged with murder in connection to his wife's death in March 2008.
Jury selection is expected to begin Monday morning at the Horry County Government and Justice Center, said assistant solicitor Brad Richardson.
Horry County Police said Eliaderani beat and suffocated his wife, Farrah Abbasi, on March 16, 2008 at the Socastee Mini-Mart, a store they owned.
Abbasi died two days later from a brain injury due to suffocation, said the coroner's office.
The couple had reportedly separated several months before the killing, and their two children were placed in foster care after it happened.
Police spotted a bloody Eliaderani leaving his store the night of the incident, and he was also hospitalized briefly.
After spending a couple of weeks in jail, Eliaderani was released on bond but has been on GPS monitoring for the past two years.
