UNDATED (WSAU) A Marshfield man who was facing a homicide charge after the death of his girlfriend in a domestic violence case has reached a plea bargain. 29-year-old Eric Mayer will enter his guilty plea during a court appearance on March 19.
He admits to hitting 43-year-old Cynthia Tyler of Stratford last year after the two got into a physical argument. Tyler kicked Mayer. He responded by slapping her. When she fell to the floor, she started bleeding internally and died from brain hemorrhaging after being taken to University Hospital in Madison.
It's not clear how much jail time Mayer will receive. A pre-sentencing investigation by the Department of Corrections is pending. He could have received a maximum of 15-years in prison.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
