Marvin “Tone” Brazzle was told Tuesday by State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski he faces at least a 21-year prison term on his manslaughter plea for asphyxiating his pregnant girlfriend last year.
Brazzle, 43, of Sycamore Street, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and admitted he was intentionally trying to hurt his girlfriend, Angela Williams, 32, of Hughes Avenue. He has been jailed since his arrest a little over a week after the April 18, 2009, death and was facing trial on a second-degree murder charge.
Michael J. Stachowski, attorney for Brazzle, said his client has no recollection of the fatal incident. The judge sent Brazzle back to jail pending his April 7 sentencing.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
