A man was dead and a woman wa hospitalized in what investigators are describing as an attempted murder/suicide, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
Deputies responding to a 911 call on Wednesday night at 8:45 p.m. found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds in a residence on the 17800 block of Otilla Street.
Damian Herrera, 45, was dead at the scene. Margarita Herrera, 35, was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton where she was listed in critical condition, the news release said.
A preliminary investigation determined that the couple was involved in a domestic dispute and it appears that Damian Herrera shot his wife and then himself.
The couple's four children and two tenants, who were in the home at the time of the shootings, were uninjured, the news release said. The children were released to the custody of relatives.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Scott Landen or Sgt. Frank Bell at 909-387-3589 or to call "WETip" at 800-78-CRIME.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
