Wilmingon, DE: Prosecutors Seeking Death In 2006 Double Murder

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) ―

2009 Holiday Lights 2009 Thanksgiving Day Parade In Philadelphia Holiday Lights Prosecutors are asking a Delaware jury to vote in favor of the death penalty for a man the panel convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend in a jealous rage.

Clifford Wright was convicted last month of beating to death his former girlfriend, Tammy Gardner, and her new boyfriend, Gabriel Gabrielli, as they slept at Gardner's home in 2006.

Deputy Attorney General Steven Wood asked jurors on Monday to "let the punishment fit these crimes" and vote to put Wright to death.

Wright's attorney, Jerome Capone, asked the jury to consider his client's difficult childhood with an abusive father and an alcoholic mother.

The jury vote does not have to be unanimous and the final decision about the death penalty will be up to Superior Court Judge Mary Johnston.
