HILLSBORO, Ore. - The suspect who police said shot and killed his girlfriend Sunday night at a Great Clips and then wounded himself with a shot to the head died late Tuesday morning, police said.
According to Lt. Mike Rouches with the Hillsboro Police Department, 40-year-old Curt Wayne Wise died at 11:50 a.m. at Legacy Emanuel Hospital from his wounds.
Police said that Wise entered the Great Clips hair salon at the Fred Meyer shopping center off Northwest Cornelius Pass Road Sunday night, spoke to his 20-year-old girlfriend, Sheena Mendoza, in the salon’s break room and then shot and killed her with a .357 revolver.
Police said they have received reports that the couple was having difficulties in their relationship and had been arguing. Witnesses said Wise fired as many as six times in all. He finally turned the gun on himself, firing one bullet at his head.
One of the bullets went through the wall of the Great Clips salon and into the Subway store next door. The bullet grazed the shoulder of a male Subway employee inside. He was not seriously injured.
