CHULA VISTA — A woman was fatally stabbed Thursday night by a man authorities believe is her estranged husband, who fled and is being sought by Chula Vista police.
The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. on Santa Alicia Avenue near East Palomar Street. Police were called to a home there and found a woman who had been stabbed.
Witnesses said she was stabbed with a long-bladed hunting knife or a fishing knife. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died of her wounds. She has not been identified.
The assailant fled the home.
Police are looking for Jesus Arteaga Garcia, 28, of National City. He was driving a gray Ford Ranger pickup with California plate 8T23674. It has a yellow ribbon sticker in the rear window.
Garcia is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information should call their local police department or contact Chula Vista police at (619) 691-5151.
