PHOENIX - A Phoenix woman is in custody in connection with the shooting death of her husband.
Phoenix police say 31-year-old Rebekah Marlene Mellon was arrested late Tuesday and was being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Officers responded to a 911 call at a Phoenix home about 10 p.m. and found 46-year-old Donald Mellon Jr. bleeding from a gunshot wound.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say Rebekah Mellon was detained after she was uncooperative and didn't offer any explanation as to what had happened. They say she was the only person in the home at the time of the shooting.
Police say a motive for the shooting is unclear, but the couple had a history of reported arguments although none resulted in arrests.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
