THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) — Police in The Dalles say a 42-year-old man is expected to survive a wound from a gunshot fired by his wife, who then turned the gun on herself.
The Dalles Chronicle reports that 46-year-old Carla Levden died in the shooting Saturday morning, and her husband, Gerald, is in a Portland hospital in serious condition.
Chief Jay Waterbury says the couple didn't have a history of domestic violence.
Police say Gerald Levden was in bed when he was shot in the chest but made his way to a neighbor's house for help.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
