LOS ANGELES -- Sheriff's deputies surrounding a rural Southern California home for more than five hours after a domestic violence call say the suspect committed suicide.
A woman telephoned the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department on Sunday morning and said her husband choked her. The Lost Hills station desk then heard a gunshot.
The woman was safely outside the Lake Malibou home when deputies arrived and the house was surrounded.
There was no response to telephone calls and sheriff's loudspeaker pleas.
A SWAT team entered the home shortly after 4 p.m. and found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
