MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- Midwest City police have identified a woman they say was killed when her boyfriend hit her with a car.
Officers said they responded to a report of an auto-pedestrian accident in the 1100 block of St. John Avenue about 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers said they found Liliya Kasabova, 36, and her boyfriend, James Isaih Keitt, 41, both of Midwest City at the scene along with his 1997 GMC Yukon.
According to police, Kasabova had been struck by the vehicle as she walked on the west side of St. John and was injured. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A short time later, Kasabova died from blunt trauma, which police say happened when she was struck by the vehicle driven by Keitt. Kasabova’s exact cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police said Keitt appeared to be intoxicated and was arrested on DUI charges.
As police investigated, they said they located witnesses who had observed the pair arguing in the 7-Eleven parking lot one block south.
Keitt has been booked into the Midwest City jail on a charge of murder, police said. Investigators said they are working the case as a domestic-related homicide and are speaking with witnesses and Keitt.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
