Police who were sent on a welfare check to the Grim Avenue, in North Park, on Monday, when the Naval Medical Center San Diego called to say a man had missed work for several days, found the man dead in his bedroom.
The police also found a woman suffering from injuries, laying next to the dead man, and she was taken to the hospital.
Neighbors have said the couple were Dr. Fred Trayers, 41, and the woman was his wife, Jennifer, 42.
The man appeared to have stabbed to death and the woman had multiple stab wounds.
Early findings are that the woman may have tried to kill her husband, and authorities have said the woman is currently a suspect, although investigators have not ruled out murder-suicide nor self-defense.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
