He reported seeing a man, a woman, blood and a gun. Deputies and Pinckneyville Ambulance personnel arrived to find both people in the car were dead.
Joseph Swallers, 59, and Irene Swallers, 49, both of Du Quoin, were pronounced dead by Perry County Coroner Paul Searby at 2:51 p.m.
The sheriff said the deaths might be the result a murder-suicide, but they remain under investigation by his department, the coroner’s office and Du Quoin and Pinckneyville police departments.
