LOWELL -- A Lowell man has been found guilty of killing his girlfriend during a game of Russian roulette and then disposing of her body in a trash container at a condominium complex.
Sulinda Sun was convicted Tuesday of first-degree murder for the January 2008 death of 24-year-old Shannon Meara.
Witnesses testified during the two-week trial that the 24-year-old Sun would often point a .357 Magnum at his friends and Meara, but it was usually unloaded.
Prosecutors say on the day Meara was killed, Sun put a bullet in the chamber, pointed it at Meara and pulled the trigger.
He then disposed of the body at a Dracut condo complex.
His defense attorney called Meara’s death a tragic accident.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
