KING COUNTY, Wash. - A 16-year-old Enumclaw girl who had been reported as a runaway in October died Saturday night when she was shot while in a house in the 33900 block of SE Green River Headworks Road near Cumberland.
The King County Sheriff's Office says occupants of the residence took her in their truck to Enumclaw Community Hospital but the girl was dead on arrival at about 8:20 p.m.
Earlier on Saturday evening the girl’s mother called 911 to report her daughter was with a 25-year-old “boyfriend” at the home. Deputies went to the residence but were denied permission to enter to look for the girl. They interviewed three men at the house, including the boyfriend, but all three said she wasn’t there.
One of the two men who drove the girl to the hospital was the boyfriend.
Detectives from the Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit are investigating, including the possibility that this was an accidental shooting. The weapon was a handgun.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is continuin
