LARGO - Police in Largo say Larry Jerry, Jr., turned himself in at the Pinellas County Jail shortly before midnight.
Jerry had been the subject of an intense manhunt since Tuesday morning, when police say he drove up and opened fire on three women outside the Rainbow Food Mart on East Bay Drive.
One woman, 26-year-old Annie Marie Conyers, was killed. No one else was hurt in the shooting.
Initial reports indicated that Jerry was trying to shoot his girlfriend, but wound up hitting Conyers instead.
Police say they aren't yet sure why Jerry decided to turn himself in. He is being questioned and detectives hope to release more information later Thursday.
Jerry is expected to be charged with one count of murder and four counts of attempted murder.
Jerry's car was found abandoned in Clearwater Tuesday night, prompting a continuing search and a reward from Crime Stoppers for information leading to his arrest.
Police said Jerry has a history of violence and had felony warrants out for his arrest prior to the shooting.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
