KIbler, AK: Woman held for stabbing death in Kibler

A woman has been arrested for the stabbing death of a Kibler man after she called 911 early Wednesday morning.

Michele Monroe, 43, was jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder after she allegedly stabbed a man to death in his trailer home in Green Acres Circle off Clear Creek Road east of Kibler.

On Friday, Circuit Judge Gary R. Cottrell set Monroe's bond at $250,000.

Monroe was arrested Wednesday morning after police responded to a 911 call that Monroe made just after midnight stating that she had stabbed the victim, 57-year-old Bobby Gene Tuck, in self-defense.

Deputies found Tuck dead in the living room of the trailer home where he and Monroe had been living, said Crawford County Sheriff Ron Brown. Tuck had been stabbed 15 times in the chest, abdomen and upper back, Brown said.

After registering a 14 percent blood alcohol content, Crawford County deputies took Monroe into custody to allow her to gain sobriety before questioning. After police spoke to her Wednesday afternoon, Monroe was officially arrested for Tuck's murder.

"There just isn't enough physical evidence to show it was self defense," Brown said.

Tuck's body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for investigation.

Monroe met Tuck outside of the tire shop where he worked in Fort Smith, Brown said. Tuck's estranged wife told police that Monroe had been living with Tuck for the last 90 days.

Monroe told police that she and Tuck were fighting and she felt threatened by him, Brown said. Monroe then allegedly picked up a knife and began stabbing Tuck in the chest and abdomen. When the handle on the knife broke, she got another knife and returned to continue stabbing Tuck in the back as he tried to leave, Brown said.

Though Monroe has some minor injuries that she alleges were received during a physical attack by Tuck, police have found nothing to support this, Brown said.

So far, there are no other witnesses to the crime, Brown said.

Monroe is being held in the Crawford County Detention Center.
