STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Arthur Rubin, the man police want to question after his wife was discovered dead in the couple's Willowbrook home this afternoon, is now in police custody, a law enforcement source tells the Advance.
The
victim -- identified as Eva Rubin, 63, according to the source -- was found inside 251 Crafton Ave. at 1:31 p.m.
Ms. Rubin was found with marks on her neck, police at the scene said. Cops were seeking the woman's husband, Arthur, for questioning.
A law enforcement source said Rubin sent his son-in-law a text message earlier in the day. After the son-in-law received the message he went to the house and discovered Mrs. Rubin in the bedroom, the source said.
The source said Rubin texted that he was "sorry" and "he couldn't take it anymore."
Rubin was believed to have been driving a green 2001 Santa Fe.
Police have yet to officially label the death a homicide or list a cause of death. The Medical Examiner's office is conducting an autopsy tomorrow.
Neighbors on Crafton Avenue described the Rubins as a "nice couple" that was active in the Jewish community. "We can't even process this," one said. "It hasn't even sunken in yet."
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
