NEWPORT - A Cocke County woman who pleaded guilty to one count of reckless homicide in connection to the stabbing death of her long-time boyfriend will serve six years on probation, authorities said.
Paula Marie Anderson, 59, of Newport, had been slated to go to trial April 14 on a manslaughter charge for the Oct. 10, 2009, slaying of her live-in boyfriend, Bobby Leroy Anders.
Instead she accepted a plea offer from the office of District Attorney General James "Jimmy" Dunn. The plea agreement and sentencing took place last week during a hearing before a Cocke County judge, Assistant State Attorney General Brownlow Marsh said today.
Anders, 68, died after being stabbed once in the chest at the couple's home in the Irish Cut community, Marsh said.
Prior to the killing, Marsh said, Anderson and Anders had been arguing over Anderson's brother being drunk inside their home.
More details as they develop online and in Friday's News Sentinel.
