DAYTON — Shalone Sampson, jailed in connection with the fatal shooting of her husband, was released from jail Friday, while prosecutors continue to look at the evidence.
The 32-year-old woman had been booked in the Montgomery County Regional Jail on felonious assault in connection with the fatal shooting of her husband, Adam, 32, last Wednesday night. Adam Sampson died at Miami Valley Hospital following surgery for a wound to his abdomen.
Dayton Sgt. Mark Spiers said police received a call about 11:30 p.m. It appeared Adam Sampson had been shot at close range with a .40-caliber Glock.
The shooting resulted from “ongoing, recent marital problems.,” Sgt. Dan Mauch said. The couple’s four children were asleep. The Shalone Sampson’s mother, also in the home, called 911.
Mauch said prosecutors were examining the evidence to see what, if any, charges are warranted.
